The learning and development program

ALTUM Health has a learning and development program. It is aligned to the business needs and objectives which are important for employee engagement and to achieve client outcome and business results.

It is available to all employees. Activities must be tied to leads, timelines and goals. Relevant, self-directed learning is encouraged

There are two levels of learning and development:

1- Job required: For supporting fundamental skills and competency development

2- Job enhancement and personal development

Methods:

  •  Webinar: One-hour live presentation (including a facilitated 10-15-minute question and answer period) ideal for sharing knowledge and resources on a particular topic, as well as answering live questions.
  • Self-study module: One to four modules with 30 to 90 minutes of content including a prerecorded presentation with engaging features for learning (e.g., videos, quizzes, case studies).
  • Online course: 4-12 weeks worth of content delivered in online format for more in-depth exploration of topics, group discussion and peer feedback, reflection and hands-on activities that can be developed through simulations.
  • Workshop: One- to three-day live in-person events that involve presentations, demonstrations, group discussions and hands-on activities.
  • Hybrid workshop: Workshop with webinar or self-study module for preparation or follow up.

There is a program in which clinician train other clinicians. The goals of this program are:

  • Educating Future Generation of Clinicians
  • Training in LEAN methodology
  • Building Clinical & Admin Competency
  • Implemented Advanced practitioner training & MOC

Examples of learning and development programs offered by ALTUM Health are:

  • New employee training modules
  • WSIB specialty programs
  • Clinical training

ALTUM Health has decided to use online learning for some of its programs. An online platform named Embodia has been used for this purpose. Designed as a Physiotherapy Online Continuing Education, Embodia’s goal had been providing an Online continuing education for physiotherapists who are interested in learning on their own time and schedule. By the way, it has many similarities with other online learning platforms and can be used for all kinds of online courses that ALTUM Health is offering.
